Canarian Government holding emergency meeting to analyze evolution of Covid-19
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, will preside over an extraordinary meeting of the Governing Council tomorrow (Thursday), to analyze the evolution of the coronavirus in the archipelago, and if necessary adopt extreme measures to curb it.
Last week the spokesman for the Canarian Executive, Julio Pérez, reported that in principle the government councils would resume on August 27th, but because active cases of Covid-19 are growing rapidly in the archipelago, this is the only point scheduled to be discussed at this meeting.
The meeting of the Governing Council will begin at 9:3oam at the Presidency headquarters in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and is scheduled to end, at midday.
Afterwards it will be the President of the Canary Islands himself, who will report on the matters discussed at a press conference, from the headquarters of the Presidency in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where any measures to be implemented will be announced.
