Earthquakes felt in Gran Canaria and Tenerife overnight

Tenerife and Gran Canaria both experienced earthquakes last night, the strongest being a magnitude of 3.6, located in the sea off the coast of Telde, and a series of 60 micro-tremors between Vilaflor and Guía de Isora.

The tremor in Gran Canaria was felt in many parts of the Island, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN). It was recorded at 7:18am, about 18 kilometres deep, and with a degree of intensity III (on a scale that reaches VIII), in which there is no damage to buildings.

In the early hours of this morning, there was a cluster of earthquakes in Tenerife with the epicentre at the top of Guía de Isora, according to the IGN, of which five have had a magnitude equal to or greater than 1.5. The largest, of magnitude 3.0, was at a depth of 11km recorded at 3:51am, was felt in Adeje.
