Canaries are confident that Germany will lift travel restrictions ‘soon’
The working group created between the Ministries of Tourism and Health to decide the measures to be applied in ports and airports, will announce its proposals shortly, according to the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, earlier today, who also says that “Germany will include the islands in the green list for travel very soon.”
The head of the regional executive assured in this regard that the Canary Islands now have the "most favourable epidemiological data in the country," with an incidence rate over seven days (IA7) of 42 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, that should lead to the approval of Germany to include the archipelago again among the places where it is possible to travel without the need for a subsequent quarantine.
However, he reiterated his warning not to get carried away the improving data, because the incidence rate of the pandemic in the countries of origin of tourists is also very concerning. He added “although all of us are doing a good job here in the Canary Islands, it’s not time to celebrate yet. Even if Germany do include us, it is only the first step of a long ladder to recovery.”
