Civic Security Councillor Carmen Nieves Rodr�guez explained they had undergone physical trials, theory and response tests to determine their aptitude and ability.The group consisted of 25 life-savers and another five first-aiders who, thanks to a private initiative, had the use of two emergency and first aid units at Troya and Fañab� beaches as well as rescue craft, she said.As a local authority concerned about the quality of beaches at a prime tourist destination, the Town Hall was anxious to improve and expand human and technical resources, stressed the Councillor.
