The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, proposed today that all time bands for children's walks, adults walks and exercise, plus daily outings for the elderly should disappear for those territories that enter phase 2 of the de-escalation plan, but this was later refused by the PNV.

In his weekly appearance before the Health Commission of the Congress of Deputies, Illa gave his reasons for the elimination of these time slots from Monday, saying that the low rates of contagion supported it, but later on in the day Fernando Simón confirmed that this was NOT happening, and the two time slots for the elderly are to be maintained.

Currently, only the Canary Islands of El Hierro, La Gomera and La Graciosa, together with Formentera (Balearic Islands), are in phase 2, while the whole of the two archipelagos, as well as Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Navarra, The Basque Country, La Rioja, Aragon, Extremadura, Andalusia, Murcia, Ceutay Melilla, part of Catalonia, the Castilian-Manchegas provinces of Cuenca and Guadalajara, as well as certain rural areas of Castilla y León, hope to get the green light to progress.

The announcement made last Saturday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) for phase 2, that outdoor practice of physical activity is now more flexible for all those up to 70 years of age at any time of the day, with the sole exception of the reserved time slot between 10am and 12pm and between 7pm and 8pm for adults over 70, and those most vulnerable to COVID-19, stays in place.
