Explosive experts called in to Santa Cruz for suspicious abandoned suitcase

The Local Police and National Police were called in to cordon off Plaza Weyler in the centre of Santa Cruz last night (Tuesday), due to the presence of a suspicious abandoned suitcase in the square.

The Technician Specialists in Deactivation of Explosive Devices (TEDAX), department of the National Police were dispatched to the plaza, whose perimeter was closed off and being controlled as required by security protocols in these situations.

After carefully inspecting the case and deeming it safe, it was removed by agents from TEDAX, and the square was re-opened to the public, under co-ordination of the Local Police de Santa Cruz.
