Stopped for no mask at the airport, arrested for assaulting a policeman
A 50-year-old man has been arrested at Gran Canaria airport after being stopped for not wearing a mask, and trying to attack National Police agents who approached him.
Officials were alerted by numerous passengers who observed the attitude of the man, who they had seen him walking around without a mask, swearing at people, and even urinating in a rubbish bin.
Police approached him in the departures terminal and asked the man to identify himself, but far from giving up, his attitude got even worse and spat in the face of one of the police officers, and tried to hit the other.
Following this, the man was arrested and escorted away to applause from other passengers who were relieved he wasn’t getting on their flight.
Police have confirmed that he is a foreign national with an existing police record, and he has been placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
