Need for negative test results to holiday in Canaries is made official
The decree law that everyone staying in regulated or licenced holiday accommodation in the Canary Islands, has been published in the Boletin Oficial (BOC) today under Decree Law 3996 17/2020, meaning that legally it will come in to force from tomorrow, but will actually be implemented within the next 10 working days, a date that will be confirmed the Canary Islands Government shortly.
This is step two of its implementation which means it is definitely happening, and the official guidelines have been established as to how it will be implemented, all that is needed now is an official when.
A negative test result is NOT needed to enter the islands, it is needed to stay in tourist accommodation, so here are the conditions in the BOC, including if you arrive without one:
1 - To access tourist accommodation establishments in the Canary Islands, it will be necessary for tourists over six years of age, who do not come from the territory of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, to demonstrate the completion, within a maximum period of 72 hours prior to their arrival, of a diagnostic test established by the health authorities, that proves that the tourist has not tested positive for Covid-19.
2 - Prior to making a reservation or booking tourist accommodation in the Canary Islands, it will be reported by the tourist establishment, the conditions of access to it include that of accrediting the completion of the aforementioned diagnosis test.
3 - The conditions of access referred to in the first paragraph, will not apply to anyone who proves they are a resident in the Canary Islands, and declares under their responsibility that they have not left the territory of the Islands within 15 days prior to their arrival at a tourist establishment, and that also in that period they have not had symptoms compatible with Covid-19.
Nor will it be necessary to demonstrate that the aforementioned diagnostic test has been carried out, for non-residents who can prove with their travel documents that they have stayed in the territory of the Canary Islands 15 days prior to the date of access to the tourist accommodation, and who also declare under their responsibility that in said period they have not had symptoms compatible with Covid-19.
4 - At the time of formalizing the reservation or booking tourist accommodation, each client must accept the access conditions that, in accordance with the previous sections, are applicable.
5 - The tourist accommodation establishment will deny access to any person who does not meet the conditions that apply to them in accordance with sections 1 and 3, and will inform about the places nearby where you could undergo this test, or offer this possibility in the establishment itself, to be paid for by the tourist.
Exceptionally, in the event that the tourist user does not accredit his submission to the diagnostic test, but demonstrates his availability to perform it, his access and overnight stay may be authorized for the time necessary to obtain the results. In this case, the tourist user will not be allowed to leave their room except to take the test and collect the results.

6 - All tourist accommodation establishments must place at their reception, in at least five Community languages, indicative and informative posters regarding the access conditions referred to in this article.
7 - The tourist user may freely accredit the completion of said diagnostic test within the indicated period by providing a certificate, telematic or on paper, stating the date and time of the test, the identity of the natural person submitted to it, the laboratory responsible for its verification and its nature, as well as the negative result.
8 - Within a maximum period of 48 hours prior to leaving the accommodation establishment, tourist users whose destination requires for their return, either a negative Covid-19 test, or a quarantine, must be informed by the establishment itself of the places where they can undergo a diagnostic test that have the approval of the health authorities as required by the return destination, in which the certification accrediting the performance of said test, its conditions and the result.
