The Ministry of Tourism explains allocation of 11.2 million euros to support sector
The Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands announced today (Friday) in parliamentary committee the aid planned to support the sector as a result of the pandemic, which will reach 11.2 million euros in 2020.
Tourist accommodations will have 4.5 million euros in direct subsidies for the adaptation of tourist spaces to the protocols required by the health situation, incorporating criteria of environmental sustainability and digitization, and the Laboratory of Tourism Protocols, to address health security in the tourism sector, is receiving a budget of 1.1 million euros in 2020.
Also they announced that the state program of sustainability plans in tourist destinations, which in collaboration with the Central Government, aims to improve infrastructures in these locations, has had a 3 million euros contribution by the Canary Islands for the 2020 call.
Finally they added that the call for the Tourist Infrastructure Program to support investments in the tourism sector in local administrations will be published on September 30th, with a budget of 1.6 million euros for the successful applicants.
