The GES emergency helicopter was needed today to rescue an injured walker, who suffered injuries after slipping and falling from a path from Chamorga to Roque Bermejo, in the Anaga hills just north of Santa Cruz in Tenerife.

The incident occurred at around 12.40pm, when the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES), received an alert from CECOPAL in Santa Cruz communicating that they had received notice of the fall of a woman in the hills.

Because of the difficult terrain, troops from the Natural Environment Unit from the Santa Cruz City Council, requested assistance from the GES helicopter, who located the woman, lowered down rescuers, and hoisted her on a stretcher to the chopper, and flew her to the Tenerife North airport where paramedics were waiting to take her to Hospiten La Rambla for treatment.
