Greenhouse raided in Tenerife with 1,140 marijuana plants
The Guardia Civil has raided a greenhouse in close to the town of Guía de Isora (southern Tenerife) where it located 1,140 marijuana plants and has arrested five people, whom it accuses of crimes against public health.
The greenhouse, located in an area known as Las Higueritas, had no fences or walls around it, but it was surrounded by drums filled with excrement that were used to disguise the smell given off by marijuana plants, according to a statement from the Guardia Civil.
The agents who approached the site observed a large greenhouse and several agricultural buildings with two adjoining rooms, where they located two men, who were identified and detained. There were two boxes and a heat-sealed package with marijuana buds, in addition to a weighing scales and a heat-sealing machine, at this point judicial authorization was requested for a full search.
While awaiting the search warrant, two other men were spotted trying to remove bags with marijuana buds from inside one of the rooms, they resisted arrest and they tried to attack the officers.
In total, 1,140 marijuana plants, 91 kilos of buds and effects for weighing and packaging were seized, in addition to two mobile phones, documentation and a high-end vehicle.
The owner of the farm has also been accused of a crime against public health.
