Immigrants throw bundles of drugs in sea before being ‘rescued’
The Guardia Civil and Maritime Rescue have retrieved a several bundles of hashish, which was thrown from one of the two boats they intercepted heading to Lanzarote last night, with 36 people on board that went to Punta Mujeres and Arrecife.
The boats were detected by the SIVE department of the Guardia Civil, who activated Maritime Rescue for their interception. Upon reaching one of them, bundles of drugs were thrown into the sea, but agents were able to retrieve them before they sank allowing the patera to continue past, which they turned round for and intercepted shortly after.
As reported, one of the boats was taken to Punta Mujeres by Maritime Rescue, and the other towed to Arrecife by the Guardia Civil along with the drugs, with a view to weighing and testing them for confirmation of the substance.
