Caught with 584 grams of marijuana due to the strong smell in their car
The National Police have arrested two Italians, aged 32 and 37 years old, in the town of La Laguna in the north of Tenerife, for possession of drugs after they stopped their car, and officers could smell the strong aroma of cannabis coming from the vehicle.
The officer’s attention was drawn to the vehicle after the driver made an incorrect manoeuvre around a roundabout, with inherent risk of the other drivers, on Avenida de César Manrique.
Due to this they followed the car and pulled it over, but when they went to the driver’s window to ask for identification, they noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from inside the car.
An inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of 584 grams of marijuana, which were in the boot divided into several zip-lock bags. Likewise, the two occupants of the vehicle had a total of 310 euros in fractional currency.
Given the existing evidence, the agents proceeded to arrest the two men, neither of which has a previous police record, and, together with the drugs and the money seized, took them to the police station, where they have been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
