Coronavirus update: Only 135 new cases, the lowest daily increase since end of August

Tuesday 15th September:
There were 135 new cases detected, of these 71 are in Gran Canaria, 40 in Tenerife, 16 in Lanzarote, 7 in Fuerteventura, and 1 in La Gomera.

135 new cases is the lowest figure since the 18th of August in the daily detection of cases. This data comes after a continuous drop in new cases during the last week, in which they had stabilized below 250 new daily positives, with a reproductive number (R0) below 1, a primary objective to contain the pandemic.
Currently, this number is at 0.8 in the entire Archipelago, a figure that reached 3 in the first weeks of August, and even 5 in the first wave of the pandemic.

Deaths have now passed the 200 mark in the Islands after 4 more were registered, with only the second one in Fuerteventura since this began.


According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health the Canary Islands now has:
Deaths: 4 (3 in Gran Canaria, 1 in Fuerteventura)
Total deaths: 202
New cases: 135
Total cases: 10,999
Discharges in last 24 hours: 257
Total discharges: 4,269
Active cases: 6,528

Of the active cases: 6,267 are at home/isolation, 209 are in hospital wards, and 52 are in Intensive Care.
