Dozens of motorhomes have filled the streets of Arrieta and Punta Mujeres, in protest at the lack of camping spaces on the island.

They have been parking in these northern towns all weekend, in retaliation against the City Council's decision to allow them from parking in some areas of the municipality.

The Cabildo decided on June 7th not to open the Papagayo campsite, saying that: “due to the health emergency, we cannot guarantee the safety of all campers and, therefore at the moment we do not think it sensible to open the campsite."
However, it was reported that the institution is going to "study the possibility of looking for other spaces where this activity can be carried out safely".
