Briton arrested in Arona with a gun and ammunition in his hotel room
The National Police have detained a 31-year-old English man in a hotel in Arona, for unlawful possession of a firearm. He had the weapon, along with its corresponding ammunition, in the hotel room in which he was staying, with 3,600 euros and 700 pounds sterling.
The Police learned of the situation after being notified by the director of the hotel that cleaning staff had found the gun under the pillow of the bed whilst changing the room.
After verifying the facts and adopting the appropriate security measures, the National Police established a surveillance team to find the man and proceed to arrest him as soon as he returned to the hotel. He was found shortly after but tried to escape when questioned by running away, but agents chased and caught him.
After his arrest, the man, together with the revolver and the ammunition, was transferred to the police station to process the corresponding paperwork, and then he was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority for questioning.
