British man arrested for stabbing his ex-girlfriend in Fuerteventura

A British woman has allegedly been stabbed by her ex-partner early this morning in the Natural Park Urbanization of Corralejo, in the municipality of La Oliva, in Fuerteventura, according to a press release from Guardia Civil.

At 5:30 am this morning, the Guardia Civil were alerted by emergency services saying that a woman had been attacked with a knife in the town of Corralejo. Officers were dispatched to the scene and verified that the victim is a female resident on the island of British nationality, claiming that her ex-boyfriend attacked her.

The two did not live in the same address but did in the same urbanization, so police were able to find him easily, a male of English nationality with the initials AHG, born in 1967, also a legal resident on the island, and immediately arrested him and took him to the Guardia Civil offices.

In the meantime, the female victim had been treated by paramedics at the scene, and was then taken to the island's hospital, where she was admitted for three stab wounds to the abdomen, ribs and sternum, as well as a bite on her neck. Agents of the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of Puerto del Rosario have verified that she is now stable and out of danger.

Police have confirmed that there are no prior complaints between the two of them, and the man, who has no previous police record, will now go to the disposal of the corresponding Court of Violence against women in Puerto del Rosario, within a maximum period of 72 hours, awaiting trial as Gender Violence these days is taken very seriously.
