British ambassador says that "today" UK quarantine applies to all of Spain including the Islands
The UK ambassador in Spain, Hugh Elliot, has announced this morning that as of "today" the 14 day quarantine that his Government has decreed for travellers from Spain, affects the entire national territory, and there aren’t any deals or exceptions for the Canary or Balearic Islands.
In declarations to La Sexta, collected by Europa Press, the diplomat admitted that there are ongoing talks with both regional and central governments, but "today" the situation is that of a general quarantine for all people travelling from Spain, but hopes there can be a resolution if the epidemiological data supports it.
Elliot explained that this is a difficult decision, but that it takes into account public health reasons. Asked how long this decision will continue, he simply answered with "we'll see", arguing that it will depend on how the figures evolve.
