A 50-year-old bather drowns off Playa De La Canteria in Órzola
A 50-year-old Romanian man died on Sunday afternoon after being rescued from the sea at Playa de la Cantería in Órzola, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
At 4:35pm the Emergency and Security Coordination Center received an alert, reporting that a group of people had rescued a bather from the sea and were practicing resuscitation manoeuvres on him.
Two ambulances went straight to the scene, and once paramedics had verified that the affected person remained in cardiorespiratory arrest, they continued with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres, but unfortunately without any success, and could only confirm his death.
The Guardia Civil guarded the body of the deceased man until the arrival of the judicial authority, and instructed the corresponding proceedings.
