Arrested trying to leave on a plane for the UK for assault
The National Police have detained a 31-year-old Bulgarian man at the Tenerife Sur airport this afternoon, as he was trying to leave for the UK after assaulting his partner in a hotel room in Arona.
Police officers were called to the hotel in question, and were told by the victim that her partner had left for the airport, so the officers verified the facts, made sure the woman was taken care of, then informed their colleagues at Reina Sofia airport, so they could look out for him and proceed with his arrest.
Agents managed to track him down as they had his name, and knew from the victim that he was heading for the UK. The National Police Border Post at the airport had to temporarily delay the departure of the flight to stop the alleged abuser, who was already on board the plane.
The arrested man was stopped leaving the country, and has been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, after police reports have been filed, and will await appearance in court.
