VIDEO: 300 kilos of hashish recovered from floating in the sea by helicopter
The Guardia Civil in Fuerteventura have made three discoveries of packages of hashish floating in the sea off the coast of the island. The first one was made on October 26th when they received a call informing of a strange package on the coast between the municipalities of La Oliva and Puerto del Rosario.
Last week after its content had been verified, the Guardia intensified its surveillance by deploying the Helicopter Unit in the area. This search resulted in the location of another five bundles on Thursday, November 5th, which were floating in the sea and among the rocks. They managed to land safely close by and load the packages in to the hold of the helicopter.
Also, due to the effect of winds and the tide, the Guardia Civil of Tarajal in Fuerteventura, and Costa Teguise in Lanzarote, intervened two other packages of similar weight and size in the coastal area.
All the packages have been meticulously inspected and are subject to an active police investigation in order to find out where they came from, as it’s thought they could have been part of the haul retrieved earlier in the month from a patera arriving in Lanzarote.
