New year, new faces

Women’s football

EGATESA Granadilla Tenerife, gearing up for the new year, have signed two players to bolster the squad, following the departure of keeper Noelia Gil and American Jordyn Listro.

They have left the club “for personal reasons”, and coach Toni Ayala has moved quickly to ensure the team keep on improving this year.

Barcelona-born keeper Itziar Martinez, previously with Sevilla, is a 20-year-old of great promise.

The other newcomer, Stefania Vatafu, a 24-year-old Romanian midfielder with great experience in her home league and in the European Champions League, has been playing in America.

The ladies are back in action at home in San Isidro this Sunday, against Espanyol at noon.
