Warming up the troops

CD MARINO, back in training and working hard towards the new Tercera Division, Group 12 season, host Atletico Tacoronte tomorrow (Saturday) at noon in the smaller Anexo Stadium in Las Americas.

It’s free entry, and it should be a good test for them because Tacoronte, from the north of Tenerife, won promotion from the Preferente League last season and will be league opponents for Marino this term.

The Blues’ pre-season challenges began last Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Atletico Victoria, and, on Wednesday, night there was a short journey to Valle San Lorenzo.

The home island tour continues next Friday (17th August) in the Candelaria Trophy, against La Orotava, at 6pm.

Home fans get their chance to see Marino in action again in Las Americas, when Las Palmas B , at noon next Sunday (19th August).

The league fixtures are now, and Marino start with a trip to Gran Canaria to play San Mateo on the weekend of 24-26th August.

The home debut arrives a week after, on Sunday 2nd September, against UD Guimar, and is expected to be a noon kick-off. Both fixtures will be confirmed a few days ahead of playing.

Coach Zeben Hernandez has high expectations for his squad, with some key, former players returning to mix with a good crop of youngsters.

Meanwhile, Marino romped to a 4-1 win at neighbours Valle San Lorenzo on Wednesday evening.
