VALLE San Lorenzo will be the latest Arona town to join the trend in Open Commercial Zones, according to Arona’s Councillor for Economic Development and Employment, Marcos Esquivel Afonso.

The Councillor met recently with Valle San Lorenzo entrepreneurs, to promote the idea of joining those commercial areas already established in Las Galletas and Los Cristianos.

Afonso Esquivel explained that this initiative is part of the Municipal Commercial Zone Strategic Plan 2011-2015, which aims to, “Strengthen theMunicipalityofAronaas a major trading centre, supporting the economic sectors involved, promoting modernisation, quality and management to boost trade and create jobs.”

The meeting was attended by representatives of the other Municipal Open Commercial Zones, who shared with theSan LorenzoValleyentrepreneurs their experiences.

The Councillor wants Open Trade Zones to be recognised as, “The most appropriate formula for business organisation, a commercial zone with an image and its own strategy and design for commercial supply, services, culture and leisure.

“A key factor is that there should be a high degree of participation from the local business people, within a framework of cooperation and involvement among both public and private sectors,” Afonso Esquivel concluded.
