One size does not fit all!
WE seem to be at that time of year when people are ordering made-to-measure sofas. Indeed, one size does not fit all!
Deco Nuevo have been operating inTenerifefor over 25 years, so we have very good relationships with a number of the manufacturers, both locally and in the mainland, as well as further afield.
Since the sofa is one of the most important pieces of house furniture, it is important to get it right! Firstly, you will spend time relaxing on your sofa, but, increasingly, people spend more time in the lounge area than ever before.
This is because our lifestyles have changed, and now many people eat and mix with friends in this area, too, rather than in more formal settings.
Of course, with the advent of the laptop, it is also likely that people will spend time working or playing here as well
In addition, sofa beds are much more common here in Tenerife than they are in theUK. That’s because, if you rent your property out, you can increase the occupancy and, therefore, your income.
If you live here, you will no doubt have friends from back home who would just love to come and visit.
The good thing about sofa beds nowadays is that they have improved so much that their comfort as a sofa is not compromised because of the bed. And the bed, now supplied with comfortable foam mattresses, is also extremely comfortable.
It’s not obvious that these are beds, either, so if needs be, you can fib and say you don’t have room for unwanted guests.
A lot of the new properties have less usable space than was previously the case, or perhaps the sofa needs to fit into a particular part of the room.
This is where having your sofa tailor-made comes into its own, apart from the obvious advantage that you can choose whatever material type, colour and pattern you want.
Apart from the bed mechanism, which is of a fixed size, everything else can be altered to suit – wider or thinner arms, with a chaise or a corner unit, in order to fit in with your taste, needs and space available.
Plus, everyone has his/her own personal preferences for comfort. For example, I get a lot of requests for high-backed sofas, rather than the modern styles, which look amazing but can actually be not so great in practice.
It depends whether you want to spend more time looking at your sofa, or sitting on it. I know which I prefer!
In fact, in the showroom at the moment, we have a corner unit with double bed and good-quality foam mattress, high-backed with reclinable cushions, and two footstools (or extra seats), which are stored in the arms.
Surely something for everyone! But it serves to demonstrate all the possibilities. We chose to have it upholstered in a grey-and-silver material so that it tones with everything, and we can add colour in the cushions to match whatever pictures we have on display.
Another consideration, especially nowadays, is price, and we can offer you a click-clack sofa (one where the seat and back open like a book into a flat, double bed) from about 250 euros.
Anything cheaper than this is unlikely to be very comfortable as a sofa or bed. An intermediate sofa bed could cost about 800 euros in the material of your choice.
Then, of course, there are the more complex bed mechanisms (already mentioned), which have visco-elastic mattresses, again in a material of your choice, costing around 1,300 euros.
If you want leather, that adds to the cost, but there are also many other alternatives available.
Minor changes to design and/or size do not incur any extra expense, and production time is about two weeks in the material of your choice.
So if you are thinking about a new sofa, or indeed about re-upholstering your old one, call into our showroom in Parque Margarita in the mornings, or ring the number below so we can arrange to meet you.
