Penalty blow overcome

Atletico Tacoronte 1 CD Marino 1

CD MARINO, breaking new ground, travelled north to play newly-promoted Atletico Tacoronte, and returned with a hard-earned draw.

An even start was unbalanced after 36 minutes when Gaston, who handled in the area, was sent off for a second booking.

Airam strode up to claim the penalty goal, which was a first for his club at the highest league level in their history.

Marino held it together until the break and then made two changes to cope with the one-man disadvantage, Yassine and Fayez coming on for Jonathan Sesma and Kevin Castro.

The introduction of Israel player Fayez proved to be an important move because he scored the equaliser after 66 minutes.

This Sunday is the first of Marino’s two successive home games in Spain’s Tercera Division, at their Las Americas stadium.

Las Palmas C are the visitors, and the match kicks off at the slightly later time of 12.15pm.
