Pavement touts will prove costly

ARONA Council is clamping down on restaurant owners who drum up business with pavement PRs.

The Town Hall is imposing initial fines of 750 euros, increasing to 1,500 euros for subsequent offences.

So far, some 30 penalties have been levied by the local police, and Adeje Town Hall is adopting similar measures, but with lower fines.

By-laws have been in place for some time, and Arona Security Councillor Manuel Reverón, said: “These PRs annoy tourists because no one likes to be stopped continually in the street while on holiday.”

He added that his Council was responding to repeated complaints from some business owners.
