Minister visits Granadilla Port

Socialist Mayor of Granadilla, Jaime González Cejas, took advantage of last week’s visit to the port project by Ana Pastor, Spain’s Minister for Development, to highlight a few of his remaining concerns regarding the initiative. He called her visit, “The ultimate accolade,” generating confidence and credibility and confirming the unity between Canarian institutions and the national Government regarding Granadilla’s port. “We consider this an historic visit,” the Mayor said, “We are looking at the future optimistically, as a source of new employment for our citizens.” He also referred to a few concerns and called on the Minister to act as intermediary and collaborate in resolving some of the issues regarding air traffic. He said, “This is one of the last legal and technical hurdles to totally develop the six million metres of this industrial estate.”
