Magma contemporary music concert a great success

The concert, in short, was a great success and the town council was justifiably proud of a great achievement for everyone involved from the start to the finish.

Rodriguez Fraga explained that although the visible fruit of what has been a highly successful project was the excellent quality of the music offered at the concert the social benefits for the youngsters involved in the experiment must not be underestimated.

The mayor continued by explaining that the project had taken in not only music but also cultural aspects, theatrical skills and even architecture adding that it was the rich mixture of different ages , musical backgrounds and social groups which had made such a success of the project.

The idea of creating the OMMC came originally from Adeje’s official music school EMMA which offers classes to the local youngsters in all types of musical instruments as well as singing tuition. Many children who study music at EMMA go on to study at a higher level or even become professional musicians. The school has been working for four years and at present offers 500 different subjects divided into classical music, modern music, advanced studies and free style. The school which is recognized as an official Music school by the Regional Education Department has had more than 2,000 pupils over the last four years.

A large proportion of the thirty five members of OMMC are in fact teachers at the EMMA Music School who have taken the opportunity to enjoy making music together.
