Lotto millionaire gets a drink-drive lifeline

Local 19THE case against a Lotto millionaire, charged with drink-driving,  has been turned upside down because vital CCTV evidence has been destroyed.

Jane Park, 21, who claimed the Lotto win had “ruined her life”, is accused of being three times over the alcohol limit while driving her BMW in Edinburgh on 3rd October last year.

But alleged evidence of the incident at a McDonald’s drive-through has been wiped out.

Miss Park, who won £1m in 2013 when she was 17, wrote on Twitter that she got “melted” while on holiday in Tenerife before the court case, at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Friday.

She told followers she missed her flight after watching her beloved Hibernian FC’s beat Hearts in the Edinburgh derby.

She wrote: “Went out n got melted n missed my flight Hahahahahhaha mon eh hibs.”

The Daily Record newspaper said her defence lawyer, Stephen Mannifield, informed the court: “The CCTV has been destroyed. “It will require some further time in terms of getting the details of the person who destroyed the CCTV. I’m confident that can be done.”

The case will be recalled on Wednesday (8th March).
