Morning campers - 16.07.2010
Summer is here and everyone wants to enjoy their holiday. Each year there are a number of drawbacks on the right to occupy a strip of the coast or surrounding area and respect for environmental laws, i.e. camping.

Adeje Town Hall has been working this month with other authorities to study and discuss measures and actions to be carried out in the town and "fight" against the occupation of public areas and camping illegally.
Recently, the councillor of Tourism, Miguel Angel Santos held a meeting with the sub-delegation of the Government in the province of Tenerife, José Antonio Batista and representatives of the Demarcation Costas of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Guardia Civil, the Environmental Protection Urban and Natural Environment and the Cabildo.
Miguel Angel Santos explained that they intended to all work together to enable to control measures of camping and occupations in the public domain and protected natural areas "in addition to an illegal activity, a danger to the environment especially in regard to sanitation and hygiene."
Responsible Tourism he added "this type of camping generates an accumulation of garbage and waste in areas not equipped or authorized."  In this sense, the mayor of Adeje stated that "the union of government and law enforcement can respond to both residents and tourists about the demands on issues relating to malpractice of using public domain to take over certain public spaces, preventing access and enjoy the people."
In the area of La Caleta it’s common to see campers, and on other fringes of the tourist town.  This situation also occurs in other neighboring municipalities Arona, where in previous years they have seen the accumulation of caravans in areas where it is not allowed.  Also, Guía de Isora has experienced this "battle" especially with those campers who have not met the standards.
