Reid and Wikstrom take route 66 on day one in Tenerife
As we go to print England’s Melissa Reid and Finland’s Ursula Wikstrom posted a pair of six under par 66s in fine but windy conditions to take the clubhouse lead early on day one at the Tenerife Ladies Open. Reid, playing the course blind this week without a practice round, carded six birdies, two bogeys and an eagle over the Seve Ballesteros designed Buenavista Golf in Isla Baja. Wikstrom, who teed off just ten minutes later, returned the same score after making eight birdies and a double bogey at the par-four 11th. Reid took a week off last week whilst moving into her new house in Loughborough and was itching to get out and play again. She is aiming for her second LET victory after claiming her maiden win in Turkey in May. Australian Karen Lunn, who earned her ninth LET title at last week’s Portugal Ladies Open, finish on 69 along with compatriot Kate Combes and Italians Federica Piovano and Veronica Zorzi. England’s Felicity Johnson, who is defending her maiden title this week, carded a round of 73, one over par. Source LET
