The Bad Girls come good! - 11.06.2010
FIVE venues hosted the Oasis Fm Darts League Trebles knockout preliminary rounds last week, the Amigos Bad Girls coming good by winning through to the final stages for the first time.

Ourplace Bar in Silencio was the venue for the fiercely-contested ladies competition, and the five teams who entered made it a night to remember.

Café Rood’s Connie, Betty and Cody were first to win through to Finals Night, and the other results led to a play-off between Amigos Bad Girls and Phoenix Flames.

The Los Abrigos rivals played out a tense and nervous match, which concluded with both teams needing a double to get through.

But Carole, Joan and Maddie, of the Flames, missed their double two, and the  delighted Amigos team took the match. Well done to Marilyn, Sheena and Ann.

The general competition had 25 teams battling it out at the other four venues, one of whom was the Barracuda in Calleo Salvaje.

Some excellent darting from Mitch, Ian and Dale in the final against Cafe Rood A meant that the Nauta Bar lads reached their third consecutive finals’ showdown.

Up at Woodys Bar, it was more of the same for the campsite boys as Del Boy, Mark and Karl, of Exiles, were beaten by Nauta Bar’s Tom, London and Chris, who joined their stablemates in the last four.

Bar 180, on the Golf Del Sur, hosted six teams, who were all swept aside by the Phoenix Bar. Steve, Ashley and Bubbles did not lose a leg all night, thanks mainly to Ashley, soon to be 18, who was absolutely on fire.

The Phoenix’s home venue in Los Abrigos was the scene for six more sets of players trying to make it on to the big stage.

Teams from Woodys, the Surfers, the Knights, Gaffers and Exiles all put on a fine display, with plenty of banter and barracking to liven up the proceedings.

The final game of the evening was a close affair, Gaffers and Exiles level at 2-2 in legs in a nail-biter.

Old hand Callum knows his way around this league, but he had to be at his best to lead his team to victory, and with Grizzly hitting a 180 and Shammy taking out the winning double the Exiles just managed to claim a final-four position.

Congratulations to the six teams making it to Finals Night at the Nauta Bar on Friday, 24th September. See you all there!
