From Heroes to zeroes! - 28.05.2010 |

AS Tenerife temperatures increase week by week, things are also hotting up in Division 1 of the Oasis Fm Darts League.
And nowhere more than down at Heroes sports bar in Silencio, where the home team’s gauge was set to zero as they were thumped 8-0 by Toscales Allsorts. The same scoreline was registered by new league leaders Exiles, who had Del Boy and Mark hitting 180s, plus Grizzly carrying Calum in the doubles to help gain maximum points against the Knights. Reigning champions Bar 180 are also making the mercury rise in the early stages of the season. They had former Jurgen Trophy winner Richie in fine form with finishes of 107 and 122 as they also won 8-0. Their victims were the X-Men, who are now propping up the table. Tenerife Sons have had a tough start to the season and would have expected the worst as they saw Luc hitting two 180s. But a battling performance saw them overcome Cafe Rood 6-2. In Los Abrigos, David ‘Bubbles’ Berry hit a 180 for the Phoenix Bar as they saw off Woodys A 7-1 to keep themselves in touch with the leaders. Bar Nauta A travelled to Target A and came away with a tough 5-3 victory, despite some fine throwing from the home team’s Mark. Nauta’s boy London registered a 180, to no avail. Silver Surfers were inspired to a 5-3 win over Ensecan by Andy, with a 15-dart leg and a 102 check-out.
Meanwhile, in Divison 2, Bar 180 B were given a welcome boost to their campaign by something rather hairy ‒ a dog named of Gizzy! Smartly dressed in his own team shirt, he helped the Golf del Sur outfit growl out a minor shock result with a 4-4 draw against strong favourites Nauta Nutters. Barracudarts Boys remain top of the league, however, with a 6-2 home win over Yelas Bar. Stablemates Barracuda Hunters were involved in one of four draws in Division 2, ending up all-square with Woodys B thanks to Karen, who won only her second singles match in three seasons! Las Americas boys Gaffers Bar went to Silencio and secured a 5-3 triumph over Our Place Naturals, Gaffers man Gary was the star of the night. Ourplace Playgirls entertained Los Abrigos side La Cana Lancers and although Gemma had trouble with her doubles, they raced into a 3-0 lead. But Paul ‘Top Gun’ Messent had other ideas and won all three of his games for the Lancers to force a 4-4 draw. Another worthy winner over the weekend was Roscoe, our beloved chairman, who was voted best DJ at the TEA awards. Congratulations to him. |
