Air Lingus expands - 12.06.2009
Air Lingus, the Irish airline low cost, will increase its operations into the Island for the upcoming winter season. The ability of the airline to Tenerife increased to 91,000 seats, 60,000 more than those available last year.

The company will operate two new routes to the airport in the South. One from Belfast, with a frequency of three times per week, and from London Gatwick Airport (England), four times a week. Both routes are in addition to the routes which it already operates from Dublin (three times a week), and from the Irish city of Cork, with three flights per week. Aerlingus operates Airbus A320 aircraft with capacity for 174 people.

Counselor insular Head of Tourism and Tourism Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, notes that "one of the lines of action we are reinforcing is precisely that the island’s airline capacity does not fall and wefind new routes, so with this increased number of seats we can offer more opportunities for tourists travelling to us, such as the British and Irish."

Sales of tickets for the new routes are already open at a price of 51 euros per flight. The London Gatwick flight will begin operating on October 25th, while the connection from Belfast will take place from September 22nd.
