Travel professionals will check out holiday attractions in the island’s North, South and Metropolitan areas over this weekend.
Tenerife will host a major event from 10-13 April for the first time ever. “Ven a Tenerife 2008” (Come to Tenerife) will gather together over 1,300 Spanish travel agents and tour operators who will be shown what the holiday industry has to offer in the North, South and Metropolitan areas on the island.
Trade visitors to the island will be divided into two groups, who will stay at hotels in either the North or the South of Tenerife, although they will all be able to sample absolutely everything the island has to offer because both their programmes of visits are identical.
Activities scheduled in the South during this major event include among others boat trips to see the whales; a cookery course and a wine tasting at one of the local wine cellars and a visit to Siam Park - the largest water fun park in Europe set to open in the spring. Tour operators and travel agents will also be shown around the different holiday resorts in the South. In the North, they will be able to enjoy the attractions in La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz as well as visiting Pueblo Chico and Loro Parque.
On Saturday 12th, the two groups will meet up in Santa Cruz, where a big party will be staged with a few surprises in store to really impress the travel professionals whose job it is to sell Tenerife a holiday destination to Spanish tourists.
The event, costing approximately one million euros, will be jointly financed by the Promotion Commissions for Puerto de la Cruz- La Orotava Valley, the South and Santa Cruz-La Laguna plus the Canary Islands Government and Ashotel. It is expected that other public and private firms will also lend their support.
