Diver’s tragedy, on St Valentine’s Day

BRITISH tourist Andrew Littler died in a Tenerife diving tragedy in Abades on St Valentine’s Day, his wedding anniversary, after getting into trouble and suffering a heart attack.

The 53-year-old, from Coalville, Leicester, who had been “doing something he loved and enjoyed”, had been set to enjoy a Valentine’s meal with his wife that evening.

Locals made desperate attempts to revive him, but, sadly, their efforts proved unsuccessful and he was declared dead at the scene.

Andrew, believed to have worked as a transporter driver, was also a well-known DJ in his home town. Heartbroken pals are now raising money to help repatriate his body, while the tragedy remains under investigation by a local court.

His wife, Lesley, is understood to still be in Tenerife, and a GoFundMe appeal has been launched to help her get him home.

Close friend David Granger, also from Coalville, said: “It is with great sadness that Andrew, who ran the Black Night disco around the area for many years, has passed away while on holiday.

“He was celebrating his wedding anniversary in Tenerife with his wife of 32 years and will be greatly missed.”

His pal added: “Andrew was a true friend of mine for more than 30 years, and has helped me a fair few times. He will be sadly missed.”
