Charity donation
The CIT of Güímar has donated €5000 to the Cáritas Charity.
Thanks to the work of the Centre for Tourism and Initiative in Güímar, a CD was made last year, of Christmas carols entitled “Güímar for Christmas,” in which a large number of musical groups and soloists from the municipality participated.
The objective of this initiative was to promote the musical richness of Güímar and raise funds to help disadvantaged families in the municipality, who unfortunately represent a high percentage.
Groups and soloists were: Banda de Música de Güímar, Agrupación “Amigos del Arte”, Coro “Miguel del Castillo”, “Yakaren”,“Herques”, “Guanapay”, Escuela de Música de Güímar, “Aderno”, grupo “Sin Complejos”,“Galilea”, “Sira Mayo” and tenor “David Barrera”.
The CD was a success, selling 2000 copies, which collected
5000€, presented to Caritas by Guimar’s CIT President Rosalía García Linares. The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor
of Güímar, Rafael Yanes, who praised the work of the CIT in this and other initiatives, and thanked Caritas for their work done in the municipality, where they help many families in need.
