Boatload arrivals are nice and early

ANOTHER patera, carrying 72 African immigrants, arrived in Los Cristianos port at around 5.45am on Sunday.

According to a source from the Emergency Services, all aboard the small boat were male, from Gambia, but the source also said 26 of the arrivals were minors.

Once the boat was navigated to the port side, the occupants were all assisted by the Emergency Services and the Red Cross, who were waiting on hand to assist the immigrants.

All 72 were assessed, and, though a few of them had symptoms of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), none of the immigrants had to be transferred to hospital.
